YouTube strikes deal with SESAC, begins reinstating music videos by Adele, Kendrick Lamar and more following licensing dispute
YouTube and SESAC have reached a licensing agreement after a dispute that resulted in the blocking of music videos from major artists like Adele and Kendrick Lamar in the U.S. The deal ensures equitable compensation for SESAC's songwriters and publishers, allowing the restoration of previously removed content on YouTube over the next couple of days. This resolution follows SESAC's negotiations, during which many of its affiliates' works were removed ahead of the contract's end date. SESAC, representing over 15,000 songwriters, is now set to restore access to more than 1.5 million licensed songs.
